Monday 10: Of Aussie Young Adult Books & Authors

Monday 10 is a weekly post where I share a list of 10 bookish items based on a theme, subject, idea, fancy, etc.
Every reader and blogger is also invited to participate and make their own list. It doesn't have to have the same theme, it just needs to pertain to books!
If you do make your own list and post it to your blog, share the link in the comments. Or if you prefer write your own list in the comments!
Note: I put 3 asterisks beside the titles I have read and recommnend. Ihave not read all of the books I put in these lists, so be sure to check them all out!

Almost all of the contemporary fiction I've been reading in the past few months has been written by Autralian authors, so I thought I would make this Monday's list about them and their books. The title links lead to their respective goodreads page, the author links lead to their personal website.

* 10 YA books by 10 Australian authors *
Happy Monday!

  1. Jaclyn Moriarty = Feeling Sorry for Celia. One of my favourite books ever. I highly recommend it. Written entirely through notes and letters, it tells the story of a girl whose best friend, Celia, has run away to join the circus. Brilliant, beautiful book. x

  2. I've read 'Jellicoe Road' with was an amazing book! I absolutely loved it and because of it will be reading more books by Melina Marchetta. :) I also read the 'Sabriel' series by Garth Nix as well.

  3. I'm actually in the middle of a YA Aussie Reading Challenge right now... and of the books I had chosen, only Jellicoe Road and The Book Thief are on your list. I've read two others by Hartnett (What the Birds See and The Ghost's Child), plus I'm planning to read her Printz-winning Surrender. I've never even heard of most of these novels... I'm definitely going to go add them to my TBR stack ASAP, so thanks for posting!

    I love Jaclyn Moriarty, but I've only been able to get my hands on The Spell book of Listen Taylor and The Year of Secret Assignments. But I will track down all of her other books as well, including Feeling Sorry for Celia.

    @Valerie
    I loved Jellicoe Road and I've just finished reading Saving Francesca by her as well, and it was very very good. I will try to read all of her other books. I haven't read the Garth Nix series yet, but I've heard really good things about it and I've put it on my to-read list.

    @Lauren
    Oh, I'm glad I could give you some suggestions! I would recommend other books by Melina Marchetta, and any books by Jaclyn Moriarty as I've loved everything by them I've read so far. Margo Lanagan is amazing as well.
    Happy reading!

  5. Ahhhh!!!! I love Garth Nix! I have Sabriel and the other two books at home, snug on my bookshelf. On my list of most impractical wants, near the top is totally a bell bandoleer :)

  6. I may be a little biased but I do think we have some amazing YA authors down here :) I met Sonya Hartnett at writer's week a few years ago and she signed one of her books for me! I of course blathered on like an idiot at her because she was my favorite writer as a teenager. She was very nice!

    What did you think of Tender Morsels? I really enjoyed it so I'm always excited to hear what other readers think!
